U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order banning entry to the U.S. for citizens of 12 countries. The press release about this was published on the White House website on June 4, 2025.
The order is based on President Trump’s Executive Order No. 14161 from January 20, 2025, “Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats.” Based on this order, U.S. authorities did a full risk assessment of travelers from different countries.
As a result, the U.S. completely banned entry for citizens from 12 countries considered high-risk for security. These countries are: Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
Partial restrictions were also introduced for 7 other countries. These mostly affect tourist, business, and student visas (B-1, B-2, F, M, J categories). These countries are: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
